THE
SPIRIT FILLED LIFE
What is a spirit filled life? Some would say,
It is being baptized in the Holy Spirit…
It is speaking with other tongues…
The gifts of the Spirit working in us….
This is not what the spirit filled life is
The spirit filled life is when we are in union with Christ.
Who is the fulness? We have to be emptied first before we can be filled. So
many Christians are full of self.
We can not be filled with the spirit if we are full of
self.
We must be led by the spirit, not by or own desires.
You can speak in tongues and still live like the devil.
There are two kinds of Christians. Milk fed and meat fed
The baby Christian is milk fed, the mature Christian is
meat fed. If we stay milk fed our spirits cannot grow.
Our spirituality is based on how much of us is dead to
the world and how much Christ lives in us.
When rivers of living waters flow out of us, self is dead
and we are living a spirit filled life.
1
Corinthians 2:12-16 12 Now we have
received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we
might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we
speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things
of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know
them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual
judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
16 For who hath known the
mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
We become negative as a result of four basic errors.
1.
Viewing the world through eyes of
imperfection.
After the children of Israel fled Egypt, they looked behind them
and saw pharaohs army approaching. Instead of being inspired by Gods promise of
a better tomorrow, they saw the situation through their own eyes of
imperfection.
This is what happens when we look at events through our own
limited perspective.
Scripture declares, anyone without the Holy Spirit, does not
accept the things that come from the spirit of God.
Reason being, they are foolishness to them.
1 Corinthians 2:14 14 But
the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned.
They cannot understand because they don’t have spiritual
discernment or wisdom.
People who aren’t Christians can’t understand the truths from Gods
spirit.
Romans 8:8-9 8 So
then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the
flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if
any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Whether we are believers or non-believers we are made up of body
soul and spirit.
The difference is the Holy Spirit lives in the believers which
causes the believers spirit to be joined with the spirit of God.
All non-believers have a spirit same as believers. Until
unbelievers accept Jesus as savior the spirit of God won’t be activated in
their spiritual life.
Romans 8:16 16 The Spirit itself beareth
witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Gods
word sounds foolish to non-believers because only those who have the Holy
Spirit can understand what the spirit means.
As
believers we no longer see the world through the eyes of imperfection… Why?
Because we have the mind of Christ.
Error
#2.
Remember
what people call the good old days? The only reason they are the good old days
is because they are not here anymore.
What
God is preparing for the future is better than anything we’ve ever known.
Why
did the children of Israel wander in the desert for over forty years? They
focused on their yesterday, not their tomorrow.
Walking
by faith is not always simple. Satan is very much aware of that fact. That is
why he wants us to look back and not ahead.
Error
#3.
If
I were asked to name one thing that will never change, I would probably say my
marriage.
As
long as Satan is alive and rampaging on planet earth you will always be faced
with problems.
2 Timothy 3:1 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come.
That
is not a doomsday message it is a fact.
There
will be times in our lives that we will face unforeseen difficulties.
In
the “seen realm” we can handle difficulties. It is in the unseen realm that has
a tendency to sneak up on you.
Error
#4.
Why
do we become negative? Because in many cases the Lord didn’t work out our
difficulties in the way we thought he should. Rebellion?
Our
problem is we think “I can do it myself”, so we don’t turn it over to the Lord
for help. Pride?
In
God we trust is much more than a statement engraved on our money. Truth?
It
must be the guidance principle that governs every action of our life.
Psalms 33:18-22 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19 To deliver their soul from
death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our
shield.
21 For our heart shall
rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as
we hope in thee.
In Him our hearts should rejoice, for we trust in His Holy name.
The Lord not only erases our errors, he breaks the cycle of our
past.
He gives us a new hope and new thoughts.
A new vocabulary and a glorious new life.
I keep seeing among Christians today a great need and a lack in
their lives. They seem to be hungry and thirsty for something, and they don’t
‘know how to feed it or quench it.
Some have experienced stress so long than depression has set in
and created a lifestyle of hopelessness, a feeling of insecurity and their
lives are being defeated by their own thinking.
These people, believers or not, don’t understand the fullness of
God, the promises of God and the provisions of God.
Because of spiritual darkness in their life there is no revelation
of God’s word.
1 Peter 2:9-10 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the
praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
10 Which in time past were
not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but
now have obtained mercy.
We have been made a chosen generation and a holy nation; a
peculiar people who have been called out of the darkness into His marvelous
light.
In the time past we were not a people of God. Jesus had not
bridged the gap so we could have fellowship with the Father. Through His Son
Jesus we have obtained Gods mercy and are able to fellowship with God.
The fulness of God, the Promise of God and the provision of God
led by the Holy Spirit will complete the purpose that God has for your life.
Regardless of what you might think or feel at times, you are very
important to God and the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 19 What?
know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a
price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Don’t let circumstances around you or what someone might say be a
direction for your future. Be a person anointed by God and full of Faith, led
by the Holy Spirit and not by circumstances.
As long as we are on this earth and live in his flesh body, Satan
will use every worldly tool and circumstance he can to challenge our confidence
in God’s word.
Never step into the world mind set of negative thinking and start
looking at the circumstances around you. That is just where Satan wants you.
Get over and stay in the word mindset
Satan will use wicked deception to fool those who refuse to believe
the truth, when the truth is what saves them.
John 8:31-32 31 Then
said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then
are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the
truth, and the truth shall make you free.
You will know the truth and only then will the truth set you free.
Isaiah 55:11 11 So shall my word be that
goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I
sent it.
Gods
word is a living thing. It is alive with Gods own faith. Just as Gods faith
energized the words he spoke, the faith he has given you, mixed with his words
can create new realities in your life.
If
you fill that word with faith and speak it out, it will work for you. God said
his word would not come back void.
Words
are so powerful: they are containers that can carry faith and love. They are so
important they can determine our eternal destiny.
Proverbs 18:21 21 Death
and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the
fruit thereof.
We
are the only creature on the planet earth that has the power to speak words.
Words can take an inner image and project it from the natural realm to the
supernatural realm.
You
need to realize that when you start putting these principles and this power to
work you are going to run into some heavy resistance from Satan.
He
is going to do everything he can to stop you. You have become one of his
greatest enemies.
Satan
uses five things to try and get your mind off the word and onto natural things.
1.
Persecution. 2.
Affliction. 3. Care of this world. 4. Deceitfulness with riches. 5. the lust for things.
Paul
says, walk by faith, not by sight. God has given you the faith, He has given
you the word and He has given you the Holy Spirit.
So,
get into the word. Let it begin to shape the way you think. Then speak it out
in power and faith in the name of Jesus.
If
we want supernatural promises and blessings of God to manifest in our lives we
must stop thinking in the natural.
We
don’t live by the natural world’s way, so why would we make spiritual decisions
using the ways of the world?
We
are reborn into the supernatural things of God by the renewing of your mind. If
you want your today and tomorrow to be different from your yesterday, stop
thinking that God can’t, God won’t and probably never will.
Start
confessing God can, God will, and stop blaming God for everything that doesn’t
go along with our small way of thinking.
