THE POWER AND
AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER
Mark 16:17-18 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
It says, in my name: I want to
stop here and explain the difference between the power and authority.
If a police man is directing
traffic, he doesn’t have the physical power to stop a car. However he does have
the authority of the whole state behind him. That is where the power is.
We have authority in the Name of
Jesus.
Matthew 28:18 Jesus said all power is given to me in Heaven and in the Earth.
We have this power by using the
name of Jesus. We can use this power by the authority of the word.
The authority that God is
delegated is the same power that Jesus gives us by using his name. The enemy is
compelled to recognize our authority when we speak it.
We activate that authority by
using the word of God.
1John 4:4 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Great is the Authority that is in us…These days we are
involved in an intense warfare. It is a spiritual war, called the unseen war.
Why are so many in the body of Christ so vulnerable? It is
because we are in a war, a battle that we can not see.
Just because we can not see it with our natural eyes does not
mean it is not going on. You can’t see your brainwaves, but that doesn’t mean
they are not there.
A lot of Christians are afraid to get involved in this war.
The reason most of the time is fear.
Did you ever put a few dollars back for a rainy day? And then
forget about it?
The promises of God are there, the power is there and the
authority is there, whether you know it or not.
John
8:32 32 And ye shall know
the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The authority belongs to the children of God. We receive this
authority when we are born again. We inherit the Name of Jesus and through his
name we inherit the authority.
2nd Corinthians 10:4 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Strong holds are where he has a strong defense.
There is no neutral ground in the warfare against Satan. It
is a battle to the end. Satan has already robbed us of much that God intended
us to enjoy.
The weapons of our warfare are not carnal or natural, they
are spiritual. If we are going to war against spirits we must use spiritual
weapons. We can not harm spirit beings with fleshly or natural weapons.
Here are five weapons God has provided for our spiritual
arsenal.
*1.
The Blood of Jesus.
Revelation 5:9 for thou was slain and have redeemed us to
God by thy blood.
*2.
The word of God.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart.
*3.
Our testimony,
Psalms 119:2 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies,
and that seek him with the whole heart.
Psalms 119:144 144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is
everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
*4.
Our praise
Hebrews 13:15 15 By him therefore let
us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our
lips giving thanks to his name.
*5.
The name of Jesus
John 14:13 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that
will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Even though Jesus has done every thing possible for the
believer to win this spiritual battle the choice is our as to whether or not we
will fight against this adversary.
The word and our faith will see us through. We are not alone.
In
Hebrews 13:5 Jesus says He will never leave thee or forsake thee.
This period of grace is almost over, keep looking up.
